SAMPLE ITINERARY
Subject to change based on Alaska weather and guests preferred activities, we like to keep things flexible for your style of vacationing while providing plenty of options to keep you engaged. Some people like more down time on vacation and others like to stay busy so we cater the trip to your desires.
Day 1 - Your one-hour scenic flight tour into the Alaska Mountain Range usually departs Anchorage around 10am. Upon landing you will be greeted by your friendly Alaskan bush guides and enjoy some refreshments and a light snack while they do a brief orientation and safety speech.
Next you will receive a personal tour of the property and have time to settle into your cabin before lunch. After a well-prepared meal you'll saddle up and ride out on one of our scenic trail rides that could include a creek crossing, riding down the Iditarod trail, visiting a fox den, riding through an old wildfire burn area, and/or finding old log cabin and log cache remains from the old days.
Once you are back at the lodge you may choose from our lodge activities to suite your personal interests. Click here for a list of possible lodge activities which include shooting sports, water sports, nature hike, or simply relaxing and enjoying the amazing scenery.
Day 2 - After a leisurely breakfast and some time for lodge activities, you will saddle up and ride out on the trail towards 'Look Out' Hill. Once you are at the top of the 600' hill you will enjoy a well-prepared picnic lunch while you take in the amazing vista of 'Ptarmigan valley' and maybe even enjoy some wildlife viewing. After lunch you will ride down the back of 'Look Out' Hill and around the side for a neat ride through the trees.
Back at the lodge you'll have the option of a short hike and gold panning expedition or other lodge activities. You may boat across Puntilla Lake, hike up a little hill and down the other side to Squaw Creek to try your luck and find that big nugget. (Option to horseback ride out to a remote log cabin for an overnight adventure could also be available.)
Day 3 - After another nice breakfast you may join your guide on a hike up 'Monument Hill'. You will begin by boating across Puntilla Lake where you will find the trail head at which point you will hike from horse trail to caribou trail and make your way up the roughly 1000' hill to the monument pile where you will add a rock to keep the monument growing. The top of 'Monument Hill' provides one of the best views to capture the Alaska Mountain Range, Ptarmigan Valley, Puntilla Lake, Rainy Pass Lodge and the Hanging Glacier all in one epic shot. Those who have enjoyed enough hiking for one day may return to the lodge and those who want more may extend their hike up the mountain toward the ridge line or into Squaw Creek.
Once back at the lodge and after another refreshing lunch you may fill the rest of the afternoon with lodge activities.
Each morning, awake to our freshly brewed coffee and enjoy a full breakfast prepared by our chef.
In the late afternoon each day you may enjoy some tasty appetizers and try our specialty drink of the day (alcohol and non-alcohol versions available), or local micro-brewery on tap from Matanuska Brewery.
Each evening you will enjoy an exquisite dinner from our chef, complimented with wine if you would like and finished off with a specialty desert from our bakery chef.
Complete each evening however you would prefer; maybe a peaceful canoe ride around the lake, roasting marshmallows by our evening campfire, or sipping wine and listening to the loons call.
Your scenic flight back to civilization will usually get you there around 11am following your third night, but you may not want to leave this remote wilderness paradise.
